On 13 June 2014, reports finalising the release date of film – 12 June 2015 – was released. On 14 March 2014, Bhatt refutes the news and confirmed that Balan "is still on board". Before the development of the film, rumours spread that Balan opted out of the film "as she needs some time for herself" and her character is replaced by Shraddha Kapoor. In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Suri said Vidya Balan had to lose weight for the film and get into shape. On February 2014, in an interview with Bombay Times, producer of the film Mahesh Bhattrevealed that the story of the film will be written by himself and it is based on the love story of his parents, Nanabhai Bhatt, Shirin Mohammad Ali and his stepmother. Initially it was decided the cast will start filming in May–June 2014, however the dates shifted to October 2014, owing to Emraan Hashmi's son's illness. It was then revealed that the film will be directed by Mohit Suri, and will release on 7 November 2013. Aaj Unse Milna Hai (Prem Ratan Dhan Pa yo) Rahman is at his experimental best, in terms of orchestration with the dubstep, as well as his choice of singer, debutante Shashwat Singh, who completely owns this track.Ģ. There’s a rock version too, which is equally, if not more, fantastic. The Marathi lyrics and the qawwali prologue truly make the song a grand affair.ĭivya Kumar lets his hair down in this mighty catchy number, set to a pulsating guitar and a beautiful shehnai. In one of the most beautifully picturised songs in recent times, Shreya Ghoshal sings her heart out in this Sanjay Leela Bhansali composition. Bringing back veterans like Lucky Ali and Alka Yagnik, as well as collaborating for the first time with Arijit Singh and Mika Singh ensured that Tamasha was another feather in Rahman’s cap! The sheer diversity of the soundtrack, ranging from European music to Punjabi rock was incredible. Rahman’s Tamasha was truly a monumental piece of work. Having got that out of the way, let’s delve into the best music of 2015! Mind you, this is purely my own take, and your list could differ greatly from mine. Keeping this in mind, I’ve taken up the arduous task of compiling the list of top songs and soundtracks of the year. Whether it was Anu Malik showing us glimpses of his long-lost potential in Dum Laga Ke Haisha or Amit Trivedi giving us his six-year-in-the-making jazzy score in Bombay Velvet whether it was the audaciously anachronistic soundtrack of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! or Krsna and Sachin-Jigar bettering their work in the prequels with Tanu Weds Manu Returns and ABCD 2 respectively, it’s been an amazing year for music in Bollywood. Not only did the usual suspects give out quality soundtracks, they transcended the usual Bollywood tropes to deliver something refreshing and different. It has been a really good year for Hindi film music.
